Power-efficient IEEE 1394 Links
(Note: IEEE 1394 also called FireWire and i.Link)
Opportunity
The IEEE 1394 standards define features to place a link segments into a low power state and subsequently restore them to full operation. These features enable energy saving sleep modes and even though most contemporary IEEE 1394 network interfaces implement these features, few products sold today take advantage of them.
Solution
Determine the reasons why these features are not fully used and generate a plan to remove them. Possible tools for this purpose include consumer and vendor education, liaison with key trade associations.
